KURT, JUDY, HENRY, CATHI---PHEW

For those of you who are not intimately aquainted with this wacko family, I am going to give you a brief introduction prior to letting you listen to Kurt's jazz band playing!

This is Kurt and Judy at their home in Napa in the wee hours of the morning! Below is a better picture (I would like to live to the next birthday!!)
Judy is Heny's ex-wife and one of my best friends.

Judy is Jewish. Henry is Jewish.
Kurt is Swedish. Cathi is Swedish.

Judy and Henry are parents of Betsy, Andy, and Katie.

Cathi and Henry are parents of Clifford.
Kurt is the father of Erik, Jessica and Timmy.
Cathi and Kurt--oh, that is right we have no children.

Needless to say all of us have been married before.

When Cliff was little and he heard all of this information a light bulb clicked and he figured that Kurt and I had been married to each other...whatever works.

Kurt is a fabulous Jazz musician and here is a clip of one of his gigs. You will be able to find him based on the picture above (smile!). [for those of you who get an automatic email you will not be able to see the clip until you actually go to the link]

I would say, however, that all of us have been instrumental in raising all of these great kids. Have shown what divorce, remarriage, multi-family parenting should be. I think so. I hope they think so as well.

I hope you enjoyed this life recap as well as the Jazz.

OLD TIME TORAH SCROLL

The other night we went to a wonderful program of the second grade class at the San Diego Jewish Academy starring, ta-da Julia Polacheck, who looked very beautiful. OK, let's face it there were no real "stars" of this production, but she certainly shined the brightest to me.

The highlight of the evening, other than seeing Julia look so beautiful, was when the performance moved into their performance of "Old time rock and roll" with the revised lyrics of:

"Just give me that old time Torah Scroll
I need something to move my soul..."

I thought this was brilliant on the part of the SDJA--then I found out that this brilliance is brought to you by the Jewish Weird Al Yankovick, otherwise known as Schlock Rock. I kid you not...this is a band.

According to their bio:
"Shlock Rock is a Jewish rock and roll band. Lenny Solomon started the ball rolling in 1986 and since then the band has released 27 tapes and CD's covering all types of music from parody to original and children’s."

Jacob watched the entire production from his very comfortable spot under the table.

We lured him out for a family picture...

and then back to the star of the show!!
A fun night was had by all!!

DISORDERLY

One of my friends, Pat Schooley Smoot, just sent me this quote from A. A. Milne, of Pooh fame:

"One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries."

All of this because in the cleaning up over the past couple of days I found something that she purchased at the ever wonderful Architectural Salvage here in San Diego in January of 2003. They are wonderful carved wood pieces.

I found them standing against the wall of a closet under my size 4 clothing that I finally donated (most of) to charity. It was an "aha" moment.

She just had her 25th wedding anniversary. I thought that would be a nice gift--shipping them to her.

SURPRISE!!!

Reminder to Pat--you should have sent the quote after I shipped them. I could always wait for your 50th anniversary.

Now what are the chances that I will find my Cartier Santos watch that has been missing since 2001??
